50 YEARS LATER: MLK AND THE WORLD
Emerson Colaw Lecture Series
Dear Beloved Community,
50 years later. 50 years after the tragic demise of Martin Luther King Jr. 50 years later. Where are we? Are we closer to the dream he shared on the steps of the Lincoln Monument in Washington, D.C. in 1963? Are we closer to eradicating the triple evils of war, racism and poverty that he prophesied before the distinguished body of notable persons on the night he received his Nobel Peace Prize in 1964? Are we closer to the mountaintop he took a collection of sanitation workers and their families to on that fateful night in April of 1968 in Memphis, TN? 50 years later are we any closer to living into King’s Beloved Community? Indeed, humanity is groaning from answers, and United Theological Seminary would love to hear what YOU have to say about it.
On April 3-4 United Theological Seminary will be gathering students, clergy, professors, laity and ALL interested persons to continue our annual dialogue on the significance of King’s untimely demise and how it continues to reverberate around the world. Through the Emerson Colaw Lecture Series, this conversation will feature an eclectic array of our nation’s most sought after voices who will be discussing with us the creation of “Brave Spaces,” personal or professional. The spiritual discipline of courage is needed now more than ever and United’s Center for Global Renewal and Missions would like nothing better than for YOU to find courage for yours! So… Register TODAY!
