In spite of the power and necessity of the “MeToo” movement, I have found that I am wrestling with what Dr. Martin Luther King called “unconscious bitterness” toward white women.
Self-forgiveness becomes the embodiment of the scripture, “Therefore if any person is in Christ, he (she) is a new person. Old things are passed away. Behold, all thing are become new!”
All this wrestling for justice does not dismiss the fact that in our lives, we must wrestle against the opponents of our peace and well-being at the same time. Our relationship with God trains us and gives us the stamina to do both.
Inhale the beauty of God’s holiness and the depth of God’s excellence. Exhale the doubt and the need to be in control…and rest in the only Arms that can keep us intact in the midst of a very broken world.
