Statewide hearings, leading to a national report sponsored by The Samuel Dewitt Proctor Conference, Inc. (SDPC), are giving voice to those most impacted by the criminal “justice” system. The SDPC has been working diligently to end mass incarceration, the racial class inequities associated, and the consequences of the failed “war on drugs.” The listening tours and hearings are to create greater public awareness of prison reform, identify solutions and support recommendations to halt the public policies affecting those behind bars and those soon to be released. It’s said that a nation’s soul is judged by how it treats prisoners and the marginalized, so it is SDPC’s goal to help this nation to truly be “Free at Last.”
