Long after America’s prophet was silenced by the very avarice that he deplored, his words still burn with un-canning accuracy. In the last two years, ordinary citizens throughout world—Egypt, Palestine, Tunisia, Zuccotti Park, Greece, Paris, and London—have carried signs with his word, his spirit in their heart as their risk and limb to be free from tyranny and poverty.
After studying nearly 150 black megachurches, Tamelyn N. Tucker-Worgs asks, How are these church communities engaging the public sphere? And, why are their approaches so varied?
I kept going to church. I kept saying the words of the prayers. I still sang the songs. I'm a minister -- I have to. But I was a fraud. I stopped talking with God. What could I say to the One who was not delivering me? What praise did I have?
