All this wrestling for justice does not dismiss the fact that in our lives, we must wrestle against the opponents of our peace and well-being at the same time. Our relationship with God trains us and gives us the stamina to do both.
Inhale the beauty of God’s holiness and the depth of God’s excellence. Exhale the doubt and the need to be in control…and rest in the only Arms that can keep us intact in the midst of a very broken world.
We must all marvel at the fact that in spite of that, people continue to be born, to fight against evil and sometimes push through it. People continue to birth new beauty of their own human spirits in spite of being taunted and pulled by evil, God notwithstanding.
In order to reduce the amount of evil in the world, in order to alleviate suffering of God’s people, in order to make the “goodness” of God felt, religious people would have to stop being “religious,” stop being thinkers about God and instead become practitioners of the will of God.
It would be good if this spate of time where the anger of white people is being lifted up could serve as the bridge for new communication and understanding between the races. But it won’t - because those who could begin the dialogues will not do that. They are holding onto the Myth of White Superiority.
